In the year of 1687, Francisco Escárcega denouncement the lands understood between the rivers Conchos and Florido, being governor from the New Biscay the General José de Neyra y Quiroga. These lands would be in the future the establishment of what today is City Camargo.

The municipal head (City Camargo), you is founded around 1740, for the missionaries that occupied the state. The November 25 1797, the captain José Manuel Ochoa repopulated the place, this date it is considered officially as the foundation of Camargo.

The constitution of Cádiz grants the right of choosing city council and acquired the municipality category in 1820.

The Congress of the state in date February 15 1859 sent an ordinance by means of which Santa Rosalía's old position was high to the category of village of Santa Rosalía.

When turning 100 years of life in 1897,was granted the city title, with the name of Camargo in honor of the Insurgent Commander Ignacio Camargo, shot in Chihuahua May 11 1811.
